My dear mother-in-law came to visit on the weekend. While she was visiting, she made me a hat - the kind of hat that I wear indoors. (Some people claim that such things are not really hats, they’re skull caps. I call them ‘indoor hats’ because I don’t know the word ‘cap’ and I wear them on my head and I wear them indoors).

That Time of the Year

There’s a saying that some people use to indicate that a person might be in a bit less than the best of all possible moods. The saying is ‘that time of the month’. The saying is a euphemism. The thing euphemized doesn’t apply to me anywhere near as clearly as it does to some other people. There is a related saying that applies to me. I’ve used that as the title of this post. OK. I’ll admit it. It isn’t really said very often and certainly not in the sense that I’m meaning it to be said. Whatever!Since it is that time of the year for me now, I’m going on a rant. Bathroom renovation! Now? Yeah. I understand that only the hot water worked in the bathtub. I understand how that was a problem. I understand the whole toilet situation was a problem too. I’m not saying I didn’t want it done. I’m not saying she made an unwise decision to do it now. In fact, from an entirely logical point of view, now is better time than any other time.

Sleep

I slept in! It was glorious. I woke up to the phone ringing in my bed wearing my pajamas, my hat, and one slipper. What is the significance of waking wearing such garb? I don’t know. I didn’t expect to wake that way.
