Anthropomorphizing Children

Children are alien beings. I don’t mean that the come from outer space. I don’t mean that they come from foreign lands. I mean that the minds of children work so differently from the minds of adults that we cannot attribute adult motivations to them. Hence the title of this post (due to a friend of mine - I wish that I could take credit for it but I can’t). You may point out that none of us can understand one another perfectly. I agree. However, the difference between adults and children is a cultural difference. Adults exist in a culture. Children have not yet acquired said culture so they exist outside of it. Very young kids can’t get allusions since they haven’t got the alluded to background information.

The Big Things and the Little Things

Life here on earth can be astoundingly wonderful. For me, the big things are all pretty good. The flavour of chocolate adds joy to my days. My family makes me happy. My sweetheart and I exchanged some kind words and I appreciated them. Just thinking about the children makes me smile. The sun is warm but not too hot. The sky is gorgeous.
