May 15, 2007 — Amoeboid Blurry SmileI used to be against historical revisionism. I’ve edited this page. Here’s what I had before editing it:
This is an example of a WordPress page, you could edit this to put information about yourself or your site so readers know where you are coming from. You can create as many pages like this one or sub-pages as you like and manage all of your content inside of WordPress.
You may notice that I didn’t write it myself. I did have it here for a while. The (eight) comments there now refer to it instead of what I’ve just written.
I’ve since changed my mind about historical revisionism. I think editing stuff is fine. I think removing rude non-constructive comments is fine. I think removing posts that I’ve been convinced are wrong-headed is simpler than explaining that I now see that I was in error. Why have I changed my mind about all these things? Because it is done. There is a distinct power imbalance between the controller of a wordpress blog and the visitors to that blog. It is like that on other websites too. Pretending that it is otherwise is dishonest. Comment on my blog only if you trust me to respect your words and keep your IP address to myself. If you don’t trust me that far, don’t comment here.

My goodness but this looks like a pristine default page. Should I change it? Does anyone look at these things? So many questions. Hmm. Well. Two. I guess that isn’t many. But, so far, I have zero answers. Then again, I haven’t even pressed the “Submit Comment” button yet. I think I will and I’ll see if anything happens.

Hi there, and yes, people *do* look at these pages.
Thanks for your comment on my blog the other day (lisa.exit81a.com) about Second Life. I posted a response there. If you like, please come check it out! I’m fairly new to blogs, so I’m not sure if you would automatically get sent a notice of the reply or not. Have a nice day! Lisa

I read it. I kept my for the same reason (”a pristine default page.”). But, I thought it would be fun to check out everyone, so in all fairness, I personalized mine and ruined the pristineness.

I’ve thought for a little while and decide that for the time being, I’ll keep this page in its pristine form. I’ll put ‘about me’ information here in the comments. Indeed, I’ve already included a great deal of such information. Careful inspection of the comments will tell the reader that I use this place to socialize. I have no theme to my blog. I just like writing little slightly odd pieces.
Of course, that might not be enough information for everyone. So, I’ll also allow people to ask me things. I may or may not answer their questions. Most likely I’ll answer something other than what is asked.

Hi Bongo Mirror
I’m glad that you joined the SLL group on ning. I’ll look for you there! That was a funny thing you said about being international/feeling local! Thanks for the clarification, because sometimes I can be a little unaware of those things! I hope you have a nice day! Lisa

You’re avoiding the opportunity…

That is funny timing. I’d just planned what to do tomorrow and decided to edit this and rearrange my blogroll. I’ll have to postpone it until Wednesday and do something else tomorrow or it will seem like I listen to suggestions.

¡Viva la revisión!

I will use my IP anonymizer until I can confirm the requisite trust required to comment here. Please do not take it the wrong way, it is a self-protection measure and not an indictment on your character.

Cool! I like the idea of people using anonymizers. As far as developing trust goes, there are other beings besides me that might be able to track your comments. Since I have no clue what they’re up to, I must assume it is pure evil and hence applaud your efforts to keep them confused and confounded.

Oh, how did I miss this?
