Earrings
May 1, 2008 — Amoeboid Blurry SmileMy dear mother-in-law came to visit on the weekend. While she was visiting, she made me a hat - the kind of hat that I wear indoors. (Some people claim that such things are not really hats, they’re skull caps. I call them ‘indoor hats’ because I don’t know the word ‘cap’ and I wear them on my head and I wear them indoors).
At some point prior to making my hat, she’d also made a pair of grabbers for grabbing things out of an oven. One might call them oven mitts. I have done so but it isn’t quite accurate. They aren’t mittens. Perhaps they could be called hot pads.
Anyway, she made both the hat and the oven mitts from the same yarn. They’re the same colour. They’re the same texture. They match. As a fashion maven, I decided that the matching meant they could go together. Also, the mitts (which aren’t really mitts as I’ve mentioned already) have little loops of string on them so that they can hang from a little post in our kitchen. Being a resourceful stick figure, I immediately realized that the loops could be used to suspend the pair of oven mitts from my ears.
My sweetie laughed and laughed. Then she took a picture. I transferred it to the computer but I have something against posting pictures of myself so I’m not posting it. I’m looking at it though and it is darned funny. Since laughter is contagious, I’m sure you’re laughing now too.

Your description made a funny picture - very Chi-chi in a dorky sort of way. Too funny - bless your mother-in-law!! G

I missed you…

I did not realize you were a fashion maven.
My hair tie (burgundy) matches my sweatshirt (also burgundy)…purely by accident…but my socks don’t match at all. I’m sorry.

I think the picture of your oven mitt earrings is probably about as funny as the picture of me with quarters for eyes. My mother hates the picture. She thought I was drunk. I was not and had not even been drinking. We were just clowning and I stuck the quarters over my eyes and held them there with my eye muscles or something like that. It made the kids laugh…my kids and my nieces and nephews.
One day I will show you my quarter eye picture and you can show me your oven mitt earring picture.

I’ve seen the oven mitt picture. I almost feel off my chair.

Thanks.
Well well well. I’m out of the habit of reading and posting. The weather is beautiful and there’s a big cool book sale today so I’m off to that and then spending time outdoors. I haven’t looked at my reader in ages. I think I’m likely to just press “mark all as read”.

A post from the Stickman, and on International Labor Day? Wonders never cease.
I knew you were a fashion maven, based on the sock photo you posted some months ago. The indoor hat, the earrings, and those socks together? Killer ensemble.
Welcome back, if indeed you are back.

No picture?

Aw, I want to see that photo too. I can imagine though. I seldom match anything but then I live on the left coast so I can wear whatever I want as long as I’ve got shoes and a shirt on for dining. Lucky me.

I would very much like to see that photo.

I vote we start a petition to see that photo. I would even pay good money to see it.
Well, maybe not good money. I don’t even earn good money. But buttons, definitely.

I’d give lots of money I don’t have to see this. Could someone draw a caricature of it?
May 8, 2008 at 12:12 am
You could all send me the money or buttons or whatever you choose, I am not too picky and I will send you the picture. I assure you it’s worth a lot.

I’m really impressed that you can be color blind and a fashion maven at the same time. You’re uncommonly talented.

The mental picture alone made it worth stopping by.

As a fellow fan of enormous earrings, I salute you!

lol! Look at that! I’m laughing out loud. I’m sure you make a very glamorous stick figure with knitted earrings.
